The Blizzard BlogHop

So ... as my blog's name indicates ... I'm Taryn, I'm 24 (but I turn 25 in 3 months??) and I currently live in Maine, which was a bit of a change for this So-Cal Orange County Princess. How on earth did I get here, you ask?

So I met this guy....   :-)
And isn't that how the stories all start?
But no, really. When I started dating Drew, I was a senior in college [Cal State Fullerton. GO TITANS!  Communications major with an emphasis in Public Relations] and he was a Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, CA. All was just fine and dandy until: Insert recruiting duty here.

Ack.
As a disclaimer, if there's a rumor that you've heard about recruiting duty? It's probably true. He has worse hours than an accountant -- I never see the guy. The good news is that I live a pretty independent lifestyle, and we have since "overcome" and "adapted". Semper Gumby.

Anyway.
So up we moved from Sunny SoCal, a whopping 2 days after my college graduation ... to Maine. And by the way? We drove. That's 3,000+ miles in a Jeep Wrangler packed chock full with stuff (including a hamster!) which basically meant that neither of our seats reclined. Not comfortable. Especially when you're driving 12 hours x 4 days. I will never ever EVER do that again. Put my posh hiney in a plane the next time it involves a cross-country PCS experience.

That was almost two years ago.
In that time, we got engaged at Niagara Falls in September 2009 and were married here in Falmouth, Maine on October 8, 2010.
Oh, and we got a few fur-kids [real human kids are more like a "not no-way, not no-how" topic in our house]  along the way:

So this is my semi-charmed kinda life. I married a wonderful man, have the quirkiest pets on the planet ... and my life as I know it is almost completely dictated by the Marine Corps (hip hip HOORAY!). This was definitely not the picture I had going on in my head when someone asked me at age 14 what my life would be like in 10 years, but you know?

I'll take it: all speedbumps along the road included.

  1. Love your pic!

I would never want to travel that far in a car! We once moved from Louisiana to Seattle and I drove the car - with three kids and hubby drove the Uhaul with the dog. I think he got the better end of the deal...

  5. Nearly 13yrs ago I traveled from WA to MN with my future husband and 2 daughters. That was a long trip. Even longer ago I drove w/ my parents from WA to VA when they moved there! I love road trips. =) Now I have 4 kids and 4 fur kids, no guinea pigs tho.
