"The Moment"

I think I've been very ... well ... I take it for granted that I don't have to work terribly hard to keep my figure exactly the way it is.

I didn't take it as a sign that I was gaining a little weight when my 36DD bra was a cup size too small. Rationalization: I've always had gigantic knockers; what else is new?
I didn't take it as a sign when I upgraded from a size 4 to a size 6 .... and my rationalization? Whatever. It's perfectly healthy to be a size 6. I've always had gig-normous thighs from years and years of riding horses; so if my pants are super tight around my legs? That's nothing new.
I also know that my hips are a good 10'' wider than my waist; but it didn't bother me that I borrowed husband's belt for my hip-hugger jeans ... and it fit.

No, none of that was an indication that I should probably get off my butt and start doing a little more tha cardio. I figured, I've been doing the Couch to 5K program ... I've been pushing for faster times and longer distances, and a little weight gain is going to be pretty normal.

I think "the moment" of Taryn needs to get healthy, wasn't the numbers on the scale. It was what I looked like in a full length mirror.

o.O
Oh my god.
Oh MY god.
OH MY GOD.

Clearly, I need to start throwing in some weight training ... because yes, that is cellulite on my ass. And those are stretch marks on my thighs. And I do believe? I'm developing a kangaroo pouch where my abs used to be. And this is without kids.

I really need to get back into a sport of some kind; because this is so not cool!

  1. I have been working out a lot lately do to my "moment". I also noticed I was gaining weight all around and saw the number on the scale going up; however, I have always been a thin person as well, and I thought "ok I am finally catching up, and getting to a healthy weight." But then I noticed all the pictures that were being taken of me the past couple of months and realized I had a fat face. OH HELL NO. That was "the moment", and I have been to the gym at least 3 times a week since.

    You can do it girl!

  2. It sneaks up on all of us at some point. I kinda ignored the warning signs too. But now I've found some exercise I love and that makes all the difference.

  5. LOL! I'm glad I'm not the only one!! I was hoping to run a 5k at some point over the summer .... but it seems like every 2-3 weeks I have the flu or a cold; and it sets me back. BLAH! Not so great when you're having a "fat kid" moment
