My friend Tara has the shopping gene down pat. And Jordan has some awesome fashion sense that I truly wish I could absorb via osmosis. No, really. Take for instance: her casual wear for hanging around Alexandria, VA:

I can't put that together! Well, that's not entirely true. I do amazing in the footwear department. But I'm not kidding: my closet? Is pathetic. I wish I had someone to lay out some clothes for me. And I really really really wish I knew how to buy clothing that was 1) Age appropriate 2) Flattering, without being skanky 3) Sexy, in a conservative way. IE: Above photo.
SIGHHH.
I'm going "home" to California in July, and damn it, I want some outfits by then. The t-shirt, jeans and flip flops thing was great for College. But I'm a big girl now.

Hahaha. Awww, this post sounds all too familiar. I was just telling my husband that I wish I had a personal stylist. I'm terrible at these things. And shopping becomes just downright frustrating. I'm definitely Mrs. Plain Jane and need help too! And I was just admiring Jordan's style earlier as well. If only it was that simple.
ReplyDeletei am the same way but i can't get past my flip flops shorts phase not going to lie. after i get off work your lucky to get me in a pair of jeans i'm either in sweats or ball shorts.
ReplyDeleteWe are like twins because I feel the exact same way!! I feel like all my clothes are boring plain jane and highschool! I am almost 22 about to finish college married and a mommy.. and I feel like my clothes look like I am a little kid! I told my husband that I was going to start little my little changing that.. somehow.. haha
ReplyDeleteI hear ya girl! I need to update my wardrobe as well. I have the hardest time shopping. My problem is I can't commit. I will say "Oh this is cute" and then I will put it back down. SO annoying.
ReplyDeleteI love those boots!!! Where did you get them?
ReplyDeleteI feel the EXACT same way! I tell Matt all the time that I wish I could just dump my entire closet and get a whole new grown-up wardrobe. My high school clothes just aren't cutting it anymore! Little by little I'm trying to switch over, but I don't have that natural knack for fashion either. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI believe Jordan found those boots at Target?? But they've switched all their footware over to summer/spring type sandal stuff
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem. I can only do the basic jeans/shirt thing. I am horrible at accessorizing and I can't find things in the store and know I have things at home that they would work with. I need a stylist!

ReplyDeleteI felt this same way about 4 months ago. I'm slowly but surely transitioning items out and bringing new ones in. It's been really fun figuring out what my style is, what I really love and what I don't.

okay, you've convinced me...we'll go shopping. ;) i find SO MUCH of what i wear on sale at macy's (my skinny jeans...and my favorite 3/4 lengh sweatshirt with blue stripes), H&M has super cute blazers for cheap cheap cheap (and accessories) and my sweet boots that you like? burlington. $20 bucks. i bet they're on sale now for like $10. rest assured, i'm in pjs right now, so i'm not one for always dressing up at all. thanks for the compliment, though. *blush*
ReplyDeletealso, i'm 28, and i'm still battling the "grown-up" fashion issues myself. :/
