How we spend black Friday ...

I can hardly believe that this is the first Black Friday I've had to myself in .. uh... 8 years? Generally, my mother and I went to the Sawdust Festival in Laguna Beach (think craft show + fake snow)

It was our thing. I love handmade! I've been on the prowl for hand-painted ceramics for quite some time now. But, it's been 3 years since I've spent Thanksgiving in SoCal. However, this is the first time I've had this weekend off. And since I have a lot of nothing to do ... (all my friends are servers and have to work this weekend) I've been missing her.
I don't think it matters how old you get ... you miss your Mama.

So this morning, up I rose at 7:45 in the morning, nice and spry.
I had a budget today: $200.
And I had a goal: I needed slacks for work, and a few more sweaters. Target = love. Honestly. And the crowds? No worse than on any other friday. I would have loved to have gotten my slacks at Banana Republic (my favorite store to shop for business casual) ... but on Black Friday? My guess is that Freeport was going to equal a madhouse. I think I can handle that the slacks I bought at Target don't fit perfectly. I'll buy nicer slacks, nicer blouses and phenomenal belts and scarves next month when I have another $200 to spend.

All things considered? Success!
But I still would have liked to have gone back to SoCal for the holidays.

How'd your Black Friday go?

  1. I got the cutest pair of black pants at H&M last weekend. Even without Black Friday discounts, they were $30 and held up really nicely in the wash.

We're totally done. Hubby went out all night, then I went out in the morning. We ended up saving more than spending... you can't beat that!

  2. Marc's phone was stolen on Tuesday night, so we stood outside Best Buy from 10:30-12 Thursday night to get a replacement.. and it really wasn't too bad! We were in, out, and back in the car before 12:30, phone in hand.
