iPod Touch or iPod Classic?

I'm hoping to buy a new iPod either today or tomorrow ... so I've gotta ask .... which do you prefer if all you plan on doing is listening to the music: the 32GB iPod Touch or the 160GB iPod Classic that ends up being $50 less expensive for more than triple the space?

  1. If *all* you plan on doing is listening to music AND you have a lot of it, go for the 160. However, Trinnie has a big one and she thinks it's easier to navigate through the music on my iTouch. I also use the calculator on mine a lot, since I keep it in my purse. I have a 16 gb one and I have 3225 songs on it, 8 music videos, and 30 apps. I've been pretty happy with the capacity of mine, and I do like the touch screen. Even if you think you're only going to listen to music, it is nice to have when you've got a wifi connection, if you're away from home and don't have a laptop with you. Good luck with your decision!

  2. Erin makes some good points, however... because I have an iphone which is basically like an itouch that can make phone calls; I can tell you that if it was my choice I'd go with the itouch. There's just so much fun to be had with it. It's a pretty cool little gadget.

  3. I have both and I really like my 160gb classic!!!! With my touch, I had to pick and choose what I put on it but with the classic I have plenty of room for everything. Plus, I tend to be rough on my electronics and the classic feels a lot more solid than the touch.

  4. I use my classic as an external hard drive. I store all of my music, photos, documents, etc on it. Its pretty handy to have a "hard drive" that automatically updates all my new stuff every time I plug it into my computer.

I also have a touch that I got for free when I purchased my iMac. It's super cool, but doesnt really do anything my cellphone can't do.

I think the best choice would be to go to an apple store, or a store that sells them, and play with them both. If you're not super impressed with the iTouch, then I say go with the more GB!!

  5. I have the Touch and I have to say, I would never go back to the classic.
What sold me on it, was the ability to run apps. If I'm in a Wifi hotspot, which, I usually am, I can check my email, twitter, FB, listen to music (duh) and watch movies.

Also, there's a Starbucks Card app which allows you to pay for your drink using your screen.. Barista Caroline approves of that.

If you're just going to be listening to music, go classic. If you want the added capabilities, go Touchy.

  6. Not sure if you already made your decision, but I was in your shoes this time last year and had no idea which to get. I ended up getting the itouch and I'm SO happy I did. I love it and use it daily for so many things. It was one of the best investments I've ever made. I bought a 16gb, I believe (it's in the other room right now).
