I'm alive, I swear!!

I know it's been a really long time since I've updated, but I have a good excuse: I moved to DC last Saturday ... so it's been a bit of a whirlwind adjusting to a new schedule (that gets my ass up at 4:30 in the frickin morning...) and starting a new job that I think I like thus far. :]  My hours tend to be from 8a-4p, which is awesome cause ah ... I commute about 2 hours in via the MARC train  (comparable to an Amtrak) and the Washington metro. Honestly, it's not as bad as it sounds. Mostly, I catnap on the 1 hr initial train ride in ... and I change lines so frequently with metro that it keeps me busy.

My office is not far from the Rosslyn metro stop ... matter of fact, it's probably 2 tenths of a mile. If you're familiar with DC at all ... it's right around the corner from Freedom Park, and maybe a mile or so from the Iwo Jima Memorial. AKA: pretty perfect location!

Drew is still home in Maine with Bristol & Athena ... and boy do I wish they could be here with me! We talk at least twice a day and communicate pretty frequently through text message -- but in a weird way I can feel some of our relationship dynamics changing. He's busy, I'm busy ... I definitely don't like all the distance between us. And all I really have to say for myself is thank GOD he's non-deployable (again) for the next 3 years minimum.

So ah... I swear I'm still alive and kicking, and I apologize for the lack of updates ... but my schedule these days has me up at the crack of dawn, home late, eat dinner late and then ... bed. Tons of fun, right?

  1. Congrats on your move! I work not too far from Rosslyn too it's a great place to be. My commutes not as bad as yours though I brave the traffic everyday!

  2. Travis & I were complaining that with our move, his commute will go from 5 minutes to about 15 minutes. I think after reading about your 2 hour commute, we should appreciate 15 minutes a little more, lol!
